Poker is a set of games in which players predict over which hand (a set of five cards) is the best. These predictions are based on the rules defined for that specific game. Different poker games use different subset of cards, number of cards in a round, cards revealed or unrevealed, and cards shared by each player, but these games are played over multiple rounds which is common in all the games.
Poker was initially played in-person as a pastime activity in smaller groups. But in recent decades it has gained popularity among most of the population as it has been made accessible over the internet. Additionally with the introduction of betting among some of the communities where the risk-to-reward ratio is enormous, poker has become a well-known professional sport with frequent multi-million dollar tournaments being held all across the world.
Texas Hold’em Poker or Hold’em Poker is the most popular online poker game. Each player receives two 'hole cards’ dealt facing down. The dealer then opens five cards. The first round consists of three community cards. Another card is revealed in the next round. In the final round, the last of the five community cards is revealed. A round of wagers by the players is followed right after each of the community cards, specific to their rounds, are revealed.
It is also called PLO or Pot Limit Omaha Poker. In this game, each player is given four 'hole cards' dealt facing down. The rounds of the community card, followed by the wagers, are the same as those in a game of Texas Hold 'em. The only difference is that the betting amount is restricted to pot size, hence the name. And finally, a winning hand is made up of the best possible five-card combination with two of the four hole cards and three of the five community cards.
Poker tournaments are the most entertaining format in the game as some of the best players and their poker skills are put to the test. All the participants start at the same level in order to preserve fairness. Players progress and get eliminated based on their rankings which are determined by the amount of chips the player has collected.
Similar to the Multi-table tournaments, SNG (Sit n Go) tournaments are a type of poker tournament which only requires a minimum number of participants. Once this is available, the tournament can be started. This leads to a quicker and a high hourly win rate games.

A dealer’s job is very straight forward in any poker game. The dealer will deal you your hand, the flop cards, turn card and river card, hence the name dealer because they deal all the cards. Another main work done by the dealer is to identify the winning hand and declare it the winner then send the accumulated chips to the winner of each round.
The dealer will initially hand over 2-4 cards to you, depending on the format. Then they reveal a total of 5 cards on the table in sets of three, one and one, these are called the community cards. The first set of three cards is known as the flop, the following one is called turn and the last card is called river.
Among your cards and the community cards, the goal is to find the strongest combination and the dealer declares the player with the best combination is called out to be the winner. The strength is determined only on the basis of the best 5 cards out of the 7 or 9 taken into consideration for each particular player.
The game of poker is largely centered around actions/betting in each round. These actions are usually taken by players in a clockwise order. Initially there are no bets so players are allowed to check or pass the first bet in the first round of bets. Eventually, a player places the first bet voluntarily. This round of action is called the opening round.
In normal circumstances another player can now match the current bet or raise the bet to a higher amount. If in a round, no player calls/matches or raises the current bet, then the player with the current bet wins the game. In case a player does not hold enough to match the current bet then the player usually folds or bets all his/her remaining chips. A fold refers to the player’s action to forfeit the round.
